Patrol releases name of motorcycle rider critically hurt in Hwy. 169 crash

The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the motorcycle rider critically hurt Saturday in a crash on Minnesota Highway 169 near Tower as 57-year-old Lonnie Scipioni of Hibbing.

The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the motorcycle rider critically hurt Saturday in a crash on Minnesota Highway 169 near Tower as 57-year-old Lonnie Scipioni of Hibbing.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Michael Holman, 40, of Hibbing was driving west on Highway 169 at Flaim Road, seven miles south of Tower, at 9:45 a.m. Saturday when his 2003 Oldsmobile Alero crossed the center line and struck Scipioni's 2010 Harley Davidson.

Scipioni was thrown from his motorcycle. He was airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with critical injuries. The Patrol said he was not wearing a helmet.
