A 79-year-old Park Rapids, Minn., man died from injuries he suffered in a car accident Saturday.
Thomas Murphy Smith, 79, of rural Park Rapids, was airlifted to Innovis Hospital in Fargo and later died, according to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office.
Smith was driving a 1993 Dodge Dakota pickup truck east on Hubbard County Road 15 at about noon when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Hubbard County Road 6, the press release said.
The Dakota collided with a 2003 Ford Windstar van driven by Angela Kay Brumbaugh, 40, of rural Menahga, Minn., the press release said.
Smith was extricated from his pickup and airlifted to Innovis Hospital by North Air Care. His body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Exam-iner's Office in St. Paul for an autopsy.

The accident was reported at 11:58 a.m. Saturday. Respond-ing were the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, Park Rapids Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Park Rapids Fire Department and North Ambulance Service.
The accident remains under investigation.
