Two Karlstad, Minn., men accused of vandalizing a Halma, Minn., church were sentenced Tuesday in state District Court.

Michael Thomas, 25, and Michal Hanson, 20, together must pay $5,100 in restitution to the church.

Thomas pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting a theft, and charges of burglary and property damage were dismissed.

Both men must serve two years of unsupervised probation and could face jail time if they do not meet conditions set by the court, including paying restitution.

The Kittson County Sheriff's Department received a report Nov. 23, 2008, that the church had been vandalized and that several items had been stolen. A tip eventually led investigators to bring a case against Hanson and Thomas, the department said.

The pair was charged April 21.
