A band of thunderstorms fueled by tropical moisture dropped 5 or more inches of rain in spots in Minnesota late Saturday and early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
"We drained the tub," said Mark Ewens, data manager for the Grand Forks office of the weather service, who said there were only light showers moving through the region Sunday night into this morning.
"It will be a lot prettier day tomorrow than what we just saw. A much calmer day and a lot less weather," he said.
"It certainly could have been a lot worse.
The heaviest rain Saturday night into Sunday was in Minnesota, with Osage reporting 5.65 inches; Park Rapids 4.84 inches; Detroit Lakes, 3.8 inches; and Pelican Rapids, 2.15 inches.

A Hubbard County sheriff's dispatcher said some street flooding was reported.
Baudette reported 1.93 inches of rain; Menahga 1.84 inches; Fergus Falls, 1.78 inches; Sabin, 1.76 inches; Rothsay, 1.6 inches; and Wadena, 1.38 inches.
Breckenridge reported 0.88 of an inch of rain; Warroad. 0.85 of an inch; New York Mills, 0.66 of an inch Ottertail, 0.64 of an inch; and Fosston, 0.36 of an inch.
In Fargo, 0.53 of an inch of rain was recorded at Hector International Airport in two shots -- 0.29 of an inch just before 1 a.m. Sunday, and another 0.24 of an inch just before 7 a.m. Sunday, the weather service reported.
Elsewhere in North Dakota, Forman picked up 0.93 of an inch of rain; Wahpeton 0.67 of an inch; Wyndmere, 0.57 of an inch; Havana, 0.54 of an inch; Mapleton, 0.31 of an inch; Hillsboro, 0.15 of an inch, and Arthur, 0.14 of an inch.
There was also some large hail reported around Stephen, Minn., Ewens said.
No tornadoes were verified, said Ewens, though a tornado warning had been issued for Marshall County, Minn. He said observers would probably look around for evidence of tornadic winds in that area today.
The Fargo area should see a high today of 84 degrees under partly cloudy skies with winds 10 to 20 mph, according to the weather service forecast. Grand Forks' high is expected to be from 80 to 85 degrees.

Tuesday will be partly cloudy with a high of 79 and a low of 59 degrees. Isolated showers or storms are possible, the weather service forecasts.
