An Oslo, Minn., man who was charged with selling methamphetamine in Grand Forks in September reached an agreement with prosecutors that saw his charge reduced Wednesday.
Devan Alexander Stallard, 19, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Class C felony, and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, ingesting a controlled substance and driving under the influence.
Stallard will not spend any new time in jail. He was sentenced to a year in Grand Forks County Correctional Center with all but 80 days suspended, and received credit for 80 days served as his legal process played out. He will be placed on two years’ supervised probation and be required to complete a chemical dependency evaluation.
Stallard was arrested by UND Police Sept. 19 while driving in the 2900 block of DeMers Avenue. Officers suspected he and another passenger were using marijuana and methamphetamine.
Stallard was initially charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class A felony, but the charge was reduced to possession in exchange for his agreement to plead guilty to his other charges. A charge for driving with a suspended license was dismissed.
