One injured in Grand Forks snowplow-car collision

A car crashed into a snowplow this morning at a Grand Forks intersection, leaving a motorist with injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

A car crashed into a snowplow this morning at a Grand Forks intersection, leaving a motorist with injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

The car, a 1995 Buick, was headed north on Columbia Road shortly before 5:40 a.m. The city-owned snowplow was going west on University Avenue. The Buick struck the driver's side of the snowplow near its plowing blade, police said.

Don Peterson, 34, of East Grand Forks, was driving the Buick. Matthew Aarvig, 35, of Grand Forks, was operating the snowplow.

A passenger in the Buick, Twila Bassett, 36, was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

No one has been cited, but the crash remains under investigation.
