One injured in Grand Forks collision

One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident early Saturday evening in south Grand Forks, according to a release from the Grand Forks Police Department.

One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident early Saturday evening in south Grand Forks, according to a release from the Grand Forks Police Department.

About 6 p.m., officers responded to the crash at the intersection of 32nd Avenue South and South 34th Street.

According to the report, Vivian Drees, 62, rural Grand Forks, was driving a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer southbound on 34th Street and was at the red light at the 3100 block of South 34th Street. Candace Skavlem, 28, Reynolds, N.D., was traveling eastbound on 32nd in a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora and collided with the Chevy on the passenger side, causing the Chevy to flip onto its side.

Skavlem was taken by private vehicle to Altru Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Drees was not injured.

Altru ambulance and the Grand Forks Fire Department also responded to the scene.
