A person was killed in a fiery car crash in Mahnomen County on Friday evening.

According to the Minnesota Highway Patrol, the victim was burned so severely that the body was sent to the Ramsey County coroner's office for identification. The victim's car burst into flames at impact.

The deceased driver was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 59, just north of Waubun, Minn., when the car crossed the center line and struck a northbound 1991 Cadillac Deville driven by Larry Rettmann of Belview, Minn. Rettmann, 59, was not injured in the accident, which happened about 7:30 p.m.
