A Canadian truck driver was caught trying to bring Ecstasy pills into the U.S. through the Pembina, N.D., port of entry, border officials said Wednesday.
Gilles Lecuyer, 56, was arrested Nov. 23 after officers found four pills in his pocket, said Brian King with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Lecuyer was enrolled in the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) Trusted Traveler Program, which expedites border crossings for commercial truck drivers.
After the drugs were discovered, Lecuyer's FAST card was seized, and he was booted from the program, officials said.
"As there is a higher level of trust with participants in the CBP Trusted Traveler Programs such as FAST, CBP makes every effort to prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law for those who violate that trust," Pembina Area Port Director Mary Delaquis said in a news release.

Lecuyer is facing a felony drug-possession charge in Pembina County. He's out of custody on a $1,000 bond and is set to make an initial court appearance Jan. 24 in Cavalier, N.D.
A message left at Lecuyer's home in Delson, Quebec, was not returned Wednesday.
