President Barack Obama has approved Gov. Jack Dalrymple's request for a federal disaster declaration throughout North Dakota to help with recovery from spring flooding, the president's office said.
Included in the declaration are 16 counties and the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation. Pembina and Walsh Counties, hit hard by two floods, the first caused by snowmelt and second by heavy rainfall, were among the counties. The others are in other parts of the Red River Valley, the Souris River Valley and the Devils Lake Basin.
