North Valley Arts Council 's board president resigned Tuesday, becoming the sixth person to leave the board this year.
Bonnie Peterson was elected NoVAC's board president March 31. At Tuesday's meeting, Board Vice President Bryan Hoime announced her resignation and thanked her for her years of service to NoVAC, though she did not attend the meeting.
Hoime did not say why Peterson resigned but said the resignation was effective immediately.
Peterson's resignation joins five other members' resignations from earlier this year.
But also Tuesday, NoVAC's board voted in a new member, Pam Heyd, who was also not at the meeting but had emailed NoVAC recently expressing interest in joining the board.

The board will hold a special meeting soon to elect new officers in light of Peterson's resignation.
Until then, Hoime will act as president.
Organization
Also Tuesday, NoVAC's board continued its reorganization process, including implementing a meeting minutes policy to make sure meetings are documented properly and in compliance with state open records laws.
NoVAC began examining its minutes policy after the Herald requested meeting minutes earlier this year.
Organizing financial information from recent years is also part of the process. Treasurer Katie Darling reported NoVAC is not in debt, as the nonprofit had a net income of about $51,400 this year as of April 30.
Grand Forks City Council's Finance/Development Committee recently questioned NoVAC about its finances when the nonprofit could not provide financial information such as gross income from 2014 or 2013. The city had offered to assist NoVAC in organizing its past finances, but NoVAC declined the offer.
Financial information from last year is still not fully compiled, but Darling said she will have it ready soon.

Also, board member Carrie Longmire introduced an updated executive director's job description, as that job is open, following the departures of two executive directors within the past year.
Longmire said her main change to the job description involves making sure all decisions are discussed with the board, "so that everyone is always continually working together."
The board tabled the job description pending further work on defining the roles of executive director, other staff members and NoVAC's board.
