Northwood to get $84,000 federal economic development grant

Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Congressman Earl Pomeroy today announced a grant of $84,175 has been awarded to the City of Northwood, N.D., to help attract and develop businesses in the community.

The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration with funds appropriated by Congress.

The federal funding will allow the Red River Regional Council to assist the City of Northwood in developing a comprehensive economic development and recovery strategy for Northwood.

The congressional delegation has secured nearly $12 million in federal funds, from FEMA and from Small Business Administration disaster loans, to aid in Northwood's recovery.
