Northland Community and Technical College President Anne Temte announced Wednesday that she will stay in her position for one more school year before retiring when her contract expires in June 2015.

In a news release, Tempe said she has been considering the departure for several years.

“I will continue to support all of our efforts to improve student success as outlined in our ‘Commit 2 Complete’ quality initiative,” she said. “I will continue to advocate for Minnesota’s rural colleges and Northland in particular; the State of Minnesota must reaffirm its commitment to continuing access to higher education throughout the state.”

Temte has served as NCTC’s president since 2006 and was an administrator at Washington state’s Wenatchee Valley College before that.

The chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System will begin looking for Temte’s replacement this summer.
