FARGO — The North Dakota and Minnesota departments of health are warning of an outbreak of hepatitis A cases in the United States associated with fresh, organic strawberries.

One case linked to the outbreak has been reported in North Dakota and one case has been reported in Minnesota.

In North Dakota, the individual was hospitalized and has since recovered.

In the Minnesota case, the person was not hospitalized and has since recovered. In that case, the person became ill after eating strawberries purchased from Mississippi Market on March 21, 2022. The strawberries were labeled under the FreshKampo name.

Health officials warn that anyone who purchased FreshKampo and HEB fresh organic strawberries between March 5 and April 25 and then froze those strawberries for later consumption should not eat them.
