BISMARCK — The following are COVID-19 case rates, deaths and hospitalizations tracked by the North Dakota Department of Health as of Thursday, Jan. 27. Because all data are preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.
Statewide case rates
- NEW CASES REPORTED: 2,190
- ACTIVE CASES: 7,793
- DAILY POSITIVITY RATE: 19.8%
- 14-DAY ROLLING POSITIVITY RATE: 19.7%
- TOTAL KNOWN CASES THROUGHOUT PANDEMIC: 218,960
- TOTAL RECOVERED THROUGHOUT PANDEMIC: 209,077
North Dakota's active COVID-19 cases rose slightly over the previous day, but infections have dropped significantly from a peak over 12,000 last Thursday.
Cass County, which encompasses Fargo, has the most active cases in the state at 2,031. Burleigh County, which includes Bismarck, has 1,178 active cases, while Grand Forks County has 785.
The 19.7% rolling positivity rate is the highest of the entire pandemic.
Hospitalizations, deaths

The Department of Health reported two COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday from Ward County, which includes Minot.
North Dakota reported just eight available intensive care beds and 164 regular inpatient beds across the state on Wednesday. Hospitals in Fargo had two available ICU beds, while Bismarck's medical centers had none.
The majority of residents hospitalized with COVID-19 in the last week were not fully vaccinated. Only 11 residents who were vaccinated and boosted have died of COVID-19.
