GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota beat Minnesota State, Mankato 2-1 on Saturday to sweep its best-of-three Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff series and earn a spot in the WCHA Final Five tournament in St. Paul.

North Dakota beat the Mavericks 5-2 on Friday to get a jump on the series.

The sixth-ranked Fighting Sioux (21-12-5) got two second-period goals and turned things over to junior goaltender Philippe Lamoureux, who made 22 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Ryan Duncan gave the Sioux a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 12:45 of the second period.

The Mavericks (13-19-6) evened it 1-1 on a goal by Joel Hanson at the 15:43 mark. The Sioux took a 2-1 lead at 18:28 of the second on a goal by Rylan Kaip that stood as the game-winner.
