The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department issued a no-travel advisory late Friday night because of freezing rain.
Earlier Friday, the North Dakota Department of Transportation has a Travel Alert for all areas of North Dakota because of freezing rain and wet snow causing icy road conditions and reduced visibility. By Friday evening, several North Dakota counties also issued no-travel advisories.
Conditions are expected to deteriorate as this storm system moves northeast across the state today and Friday.
Blizzard-like conditions are expected to develop over the weekend into Monday, with high winds and heavy snowfall creating hazardous driving conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
Motorists should expect travel delays due to reduced speeds and visibility and take appropriate precautions.
