Kitsch was born in Williston, N.D. His experience includes serving as director of communications for U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Ind.

Kitsch replaces longtime aide Barry Piatt.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, will hold a news conference at 5 p.m. Friday in the Memorial Auditorium at Concordia College in Moorhead.

Yunus and the Grameen Bank, a micro-lending institution in Bangladesh that provides low-cost loans for villagers, were awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.

Concordia College is one of five Midwestern colleges of the ELCA that collaborate with the Norwegian Nobel Institute to host the Peace Prize Forum.

Education award:

UND assistant professor Jeffry Stamp will receive the Outstanding Achievement in Education Award from the Information Technology Council of North Dakota at its awards program Wednesday in the Holiday Inn Coliseum Center in Minot.

The council says Stamp's leadership placed UND's Entrepreneurship Program as one of the top ten undergraduate programs in the nation in 2007 by both Entrepreneur Magazine and The Princeton Review.

Education improvement:

The North Dakota Commission on Education Improvement will meet at 9 a.m. today in the Roughrider Room of the State Capitol Building in Bismarck. The public is invited to attend and may provide input at 3 p.m.

Lt. Gov. Jack Dalrymple chairs the 14-member commission of administrators, educators and legislators from across the state. The group works to address funding equity and inadequacy among the state's schools.
