A new UND campus pastor will be installed Sunday in Christus Rex Lutheran Campus Center, replacing the Rev. Tim Megorden, who left in the summer of 2007 after 18 years in that pulpit to become campus pastor at Concordia College in Moorhead.

The Rev. Chad Brucklacher began as pastor of Christus Rex in July and will be formally put in place during the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the church at 3012 University Avenue. The public is welcome.

Brucklacher, who was a pastor in Gillette, Wyo., for the past six years, said he first got into campus ministry as a student at the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), according to a news release from Christus Rex.

"For 20 years, I have felt a call toward campus ministry," he said. "Now, with 10 years of pastoral ministry experience, I felt it was time to respond to this call."

He will join Pastor Kathy Fick, a lay minister, on the pastoral staff at the Lutheran center that dates to 1942 in a building dating to 1956, with a coffeehouse added in 1999. Christus Rex is part of the Eastern North Dakota Synod of the Chicago-based Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the nation's largest Lutheran denomination, and it traces its beginnings at UND to 1907.

It's one of three congregations with special histories and presences on campus -- the Catholic Newman Center in St. Thomas Aquinas parish and Wittenberg Chapel, a ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Lutheran campus ministry at UND dates back to 1907.
