FARGO -- A North Dakota State University finance official has resigned, citing medical issues in his family.

Broc Lietz, associate vice president for finance and administration, said Wednesday he was not asked to resign and his decision to step down was for personal reasons.

Bruce Bollinger, NDSU vice president for finance and administration, announced the resignation Wednesday in an e-mail to campus.

Lietz will be on administrative leave through July 1 so he can be available to tie up some loose ends, NDSU spokeswoman Najla Amundson said.

His resignation comes shortly after two other resignations at NDSU that related to a recent audit, which found circumventions of board policy relating to building projects on campus.

John Adams, vice president for finance and administration, and Bruce Frantz, director of facilities management, both stepped down this year. An investigation is ongoing to identify who knowingly circumvented board policies.

Amundson and Lietz said the investigation has no bearing on his decision to step down.
