The Organ Transplant Fund was established by the North Dakota Legislature in 1991 to provide funds to help individuals with financial needs related to transplant operations not covered by insurance. The fund is administered by the North Dakota Association for Disabled.

To date, NDAD has awarded more than $642,120 in assistance for transplant expenses. Of that amount, $276,690 has been reimbursed through the state Organ Transplant Fund. Dollars are generated by tax refunds of less than $5.
