Twenty-one Trees Award winners from across North Dakota will be recognized Oct. 11 at the Trees Bowl and Awards Ceremony on the North Dakota State University campus and the Fargodome.
The winners will participate in a ceremonial tree planting on the NDSU campus at 10:30 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony in the Fargodome at 11:30 a.m.
The award winners include:
- Community of the Year: Northwood, N.D.
- Distinguished Leadership: Marcy Douglas, Northwood.

- Excellence in Government: Grand Forks County Soil Conservation District and Fargo Park District are co-winners.
- Media Outreach: The Grand Forks Herald and WDAZ-TV are co-winners.
- Volunteer Organization: Shea's Nursery, Grand Forks; Lundeby Evergreens, Tolna, N.D.; Trees on the Move, Crystal, N.D.; and Strata Corp., Grand Forks, are co-winners.
The award winners are being recognized by NDSU and the North Dakota Forest Service for their efforts in tree planting and care, preservation or maintenance, community forestry efforts, forest management practices, forest recreation, environmental education and protection and suppression activities.
