Several airports in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota will receive millions of dollars in federal grants for construction and maintenance projects, the congressional delegations announced today.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a total of almost $2 million to 10 North Dakota airports for the projects, Sens. Kent Conrad and John Hoeven and Rep. Rick Berg said. The agency halted work on airport construction projects in July because of a congressional stalemate, but a deal between the House and Senate restored the funding earlier this month.
FAA grants to North Dakota include: $97,000 for Cooperstown Municipal Airport; $369,406 for Bottineau Municipal Airport; and $127,500 for Harry Stern Airport in Wahpeton.
Six airports in northwestern Minnesota were awarded almost $1.5 million in FAA grants for infrastructure projects, Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and Rep. Collin Peterson announced Tuesday.
Minnesota construction grants include: $478,394 to Moorhead Municipal Airport to support construction of a new hangar building; $386,014 to Warroad International Memorial for overall infrastructure improvements; and $129,333 for upgrades at Hawley Municipal Airport.
