A St. Michael, N.D., man who led law enforcement on a high-speed chase west of Devils Lake was charged Thursday in Ramsey County District Court.

Marshall Demarce, 23, is facing a charge of reckless endangerment after he rammed into a woman's vehicle carrying two young children in the parking lot of the Devils Lake Law Enforcement Center on Feb. 19.

The woman, who had called in Demarce on suspicion of driving under the influence, had been followed by Demarce for nearly two miles before she arrived at the center.

Once she parked, Demarce blocked her vehicle with his, later fleeing once officers saw him ram the woman's car with his.

According to a criminal complaint, authorities chased Demarce west on U.S. Highway 2, going an estimated 90 mph. He eventually pulled over but refused tests to determine if he was under the influence.

Reckless endangerment is a Class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

He also faces misdemeanor charges including fleeing police, physical control of a motor vehicle and driving without insurance.
