N.D. Highway Patrol arrests 29 for DUI

The North Dakota Highway Patrol arrested 29 people for driving under the influence of alcohol during the long Fourth of July weekend, including eight drivers in the northeastern part of the state.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol arrested 29 people for driving under the influence of alcohol during the long Fourth of July weekend, including eight drivers in the northeastern part of the state.

From Friday to Monday, the patrol responded to a fatal car crash south of Mandan, and Capt. Kevin Robson said there were nine accidents with no injuries and four with injuries.

Statewide, 13 minors were arrested for possession or consumption of alcohol and 12 people were cited for open containers.

Officers issued 670 speeding tickets and 145 seat belt tickets.

That adds up to 1,115 citations issued by the Highway Patrol in four days.

Minnesota State Patrol officers issued three citations for driving under the influence in the district that includes Polk County and nine other counties in the northwestern part of the state.
