BISMARCK – The state Board of Higher Education will have a special meeting today to consider the appointment of Margaret Dahlberg as interim president of Valley City State University.

Dahlberg has served as vice president of academic affairs at VCSU since 2010. She previously was on the VCSU faculty for 13 years as a professor of English and chairwoman of the Communication Arts Department.

She would serve as interim president while a search committee looks for a permanent replacement for current VCSU President Steve Shirley, who was appointed president of Minot State University in February to replace MSU President David Fuller after he retires in June.

Dahlberg graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and the University of North Dakota.

The board will meet by teleconference at 1:30 p.m.
