WASHINGTON - North Dakota's congressional delegation is applauding the nomination of Bismarck attorney Tim Purdon to be the next U.S. attorney for North Dakota.
President Barack Obama is expected to announce the nomination today.
In a joint statement, Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Rep. Earl Pomeroy called Purdon an "outstanding choice" for U.S. attorney.
"He is well respected and an example of how dedication, education and hard work pay off," they said in the statement. "He has a distinguished record and has proven his ability to enforce the law with conviction and courage."
Purdon, 41, is a native of Oakes, N.D., and an attorney at Vogel Law Firm in Bismarck.

"I am humbled by President Obama's nomination and thankful to North Dakota's congressional delegation for their support. I am looking forward to the next step of the process in the Senate," Purdon said in the joint statement.
If approved by the Senate, Purdon will replace Lynn Jordheim, who has served as acting U.S. attorney since September following the resignation of Drew Wrigley.
