More North Dakota families now qualify for state help with child care costs, the state said Tuesday.

The Department of Human Services recently expanded qualifications for the Child Care Assistance Program to a gross income of $4,915 a month for a family of three.

The program serves about 2,420 children per month. The average payment per family is $407, the state said.
