Motorcyclist, 60, dies in crash near Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A Marion, S.D., man, identified as Roger Waltner, 60, was killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle-passenger car crash that occurred 11 miles west of Sioux Falls.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a motorcycle, driven by Waltner, was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 42. The car, driven by Larry Licht, 58, Parker, S.D., was driving west on Highway 42 when it crossed the center line and collided with the motorcycle.

Waltner was later pronounced dead at a Sioux Falls hospital.  Licht sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in the car, James Licht, 14, Parker, S.D., received minor injuries.

The investigation continues. Charges are pending.
