FERTILE, Minn. - A mother and her 18-month-old child were safely evacuated from their home after a storage shed and attached garage caught fire Friday night.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Fertile Fire Department responded to a call at 6:12 p.m. to a structure fire at 209 Jefferson Ave S.W.

A storage shed located near the garage caught fire, causing the attached garage to ignite. The neighbor's garage siding door melted, according to a release from Polk County Sheriff's Office.

The house was occupied, but the mother and her child were able to evacuate without injuries because of a warning from the neighbors about the fire.

The homeowners are Kevin and Angela Yungen.
