Grand Forks and East Grand Forks will spray for mosquitoes 9 p.m. to midnight on Thursday.

To ensure spray effectiveness during the spray operation, winds must be 10 mph or less with no inclement weather present, according to a news release. Winds higher than 10 mph or inclement weather may force the cities to suspended spraying operations until conditions improve.

Residents may want to stay indoors until the aerosol cloud dissipates. People should not run, walk or bike directly through the aerosol cloud produced by insecticide sprayers. Anyone who is sensitive to chemicals may want to close their windows during the ground spraying.

West Nile virus has been identified in mosquitoes collected from the Grand Forks area, according to the release. The cities urge residents to take extra precautions to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
