MOORHEAD, Minn. - Police are looking for a suspect in south Moorhead in connection with an early morning stabbing.
According to Lt. Tory Jacobson:
The stabbing victim, a 34-year-old West Fargo man, called 911 at 3:05 a.m., saying he'd been stabbed at 505 32nd Ave. S. He was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health with a stab wound in his left rib area and in the stomach just below his rib cage. The injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.
While en route, police learned that the suspect had left the scene in a white pickup. An officer met a white pickup traveling eastbound on 30th Avenue South and tried to stop it, but the pickup sped up and turned into the Heatherwood Circle area off Village Green Boulevard and stopped at the end of a cul-de-sac.
The male driver fled on foot. He's described as an adult Native American or Hispanic male in his mid-30s. His clothing isn't known because he shed a sweatshirt while running.

The pickup's male passenger was taken into custody and is being interviewed by investigators.
Police believe the suspect and victims know each other and that it wasn't a random act of violence, Jacobson said. He said he couldn't discuss a possible motive.
The stabbing took place in the parking lot at 505 32nd Ave. S. when the two vehicles were alongside each other.
Jacobson said there's no indication that the suspect is a threat to the general public at this time. Officers have been checking the Village Green area and have been unable to locate him.
Police are asking that if anyone living in the Village Green area notices that their property was disturbed or finds abandoned property such as clothing, they should contact the Moorhead Police Department at (701) 451-7660.
Jacobson said the victim has talked with investigators.
