U.S. Highway 2 between East Grand Forks and U.S. Highway 75 near Crookston has been closed, the state Department of Transportation said.
It also closed state Highway 200 from the North Dakota border to Ada, Minn., citing blowing snow and reduced visibility.
The highways will be closed until further notice.
MNDoT reminded drivers that driving on closed roads is illegal and can be punished by as much as a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail. Drivers who need to be rescued will also have to pay other expenses and penalties.
