A Bemidji woman was injured Friday when her car crossed the U.S. Highway 2 center line and struck a horse trailer, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

At 3:45 p.m., Anna B. Meredith, 73, was eastbound on Highway 2 in Bagley, Minn., when the 2009 Lexus station wagon she was driving crossed the center line.

Shirley A. Iverson, 54, of Scappoose, Ore., was westbound on the highway and swerved to avoid the car, the patrol said. But Meredith's car struck a horse trailer being pulled by Iverson's 2007 Ford pickup.

Meredith was taken to Clearwater County Memorial Hospital and was in stable condition Friday evening, an emergency room worker told the Herald.

The crash totaled the Lexus and caused moderate damage to the trailer. A local veterinarian examined the horses and said three of the four that were inside the trailer had slight injuries.
