PARK RAPIDS, Minn. -- A Bemidji woman was sentenced Friday to nearly five years in prison for a crash that killed a motorcyclist after she had spent the night drinking.
Victoria Whitefeather, 23, told witnesses at the scene of the northern Hubbard County crash on the morning of Aug. 25 that she had "10-plus shots and eight-plus mixed drinks the evening before."
Tracy Renae Childs 51, of Proctor, died on the way to the hospital, and her husband, Robert, 47, was seriously injured in the crash. Authorities said Whitefeather passed out on Hubbard County Road 36 and struck the couple’s motorcycle.
Robert Childs limped into Hubbard County District Court on Friday afternoon for the sentencing.

Judge Robert Tiffany gave Whitefeather a 58-month sentence. With good time, she will serve 38⅓ months in prison, with 19⅔ months on supervised probation.
Tiffany denied a motion to place Whitefeather on probation, noting a juvenile record with numerous alcohol violations.
