PENNINGTON -- Two adults received treatment after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning Saturday morning at a rural residence here.
At about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, Cass Lake Fire Department and Cass Lake Ambulance responded to a report of carbon monoxide poisoning at the residence, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
Prior to the arrival of emergency services, a Beltrami County dispatcher detected signs of carbon monoxide poisoning in the speech of the two adult occupants and convinced them to safely leave the residence and wait for assistance outside.
The two adults, whose names were not released, were later taken to North Country Regional Hospital where a woman was treated and released and a man was transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for additional treatment.
It is believed that the source of the carbon monoxide was from a propane boiler used to heat the floor of the residence, according to the press release. The level of carbon monoxide was considered to be of a potentially lethal amount.
