Wisconsin native Sam Lofquist scored in the final four minutes to lift No. 7 Minnesota into a 2-2 tie with Wisconsin on Friday in Madison, Wis.
Lofquist, a freshman defenseman from Somerset, Wis., scored his first collegiate goal when he followed the rebound of a Nico Sacchetti tip from close range.
It was the third tie in the last four games of the series between the Western Collegiate Hockey Association border rivals.
Shane Connelly made 34 saves for Wisconsin (0-4-1, 0-2-1 WCHA). Alex Kangas stopped 18 shots for Minnesota (2-0-1, 2-0-1).
The Badgers, who were second from the bottom nationally in scoring defense, allowing an average of 5.75 goals per game in an 0-4 start to the season, killed all nine Golden Gophers power plays, including one that stretched into the opening 1:02 of the five-minute overtime.

Wisconsin jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a first-period goal by Podge Turnbull and a second-period, power-play score by Brendan Smith.
Minnesota cut the deficit in half before the second intermission when Ryan Stoa redirected a Jay Barriball shot past Connelly.
Bemidji State 4, St. Cloud State 2: Travis Winter, Mitch Ryan, Ben Kinne and Brandon Marino scored goals to lead Bemidji State to a home win over St. Cloud State.
Matt Dalton stopped 33 shots for the Beavers.
St. Cloud State, which went scoreless on eight power plays, received goals from Mitch Ryan and Jordy Christian.
