Minnesota terror suspect returns to federal court today

ST. PAUL -- The Montevideo, Minn., man who was apprehended as federal authorities seized explosive devices from his parent's home will appear in federal court today.

Buford "Bucky" Rogers, 24, will appear at 3 p.m. in U.S. District Court in St. Paul for a detention hearing, according to Jeanne Graham, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Rogers is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He made an initial court appearance Monday after being brought into custody Friday, said Graham.

She said the firearm charge remains the only charge filed against him.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and members of the Bloomington bomb squad searched the home of the suspect's parents and detonated some explosive devices found there, according to local and federal authorities.

Law officials said his arrest was made to thwart a possible terrorist attack on individuals in the Montevideo area, and that several lives may have been saved.
