ST. PAUL -- An unseasonable October snowfall is bringing 2 to 3 inches of snow to parts of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, and causing an average delay of 90 minutes for flights at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Spokesman Pat Hogan says the delays are mainly due to visibility problems. He says the runways don't need to be plowed because they are still warm enough that snow is melting on contact.
Hogan says travelers should check with their airline before coming to the airport.
Grand Forks International Aiport officials said two Delta Airlines scheduled to arrive Monday from Minneapolis were delayed, and one flight to Minneapolis was delayed.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation warned drivers to be prepared for changing road conditions. An earlier round of snow early Saturday was a factor in about 100 crashes.
