Three-hundred sixty-eight people were killed in Minnesota traffic accidents in 2011, the lowest number since 1944, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
The number of deaths declined for the fourth consecutive year, and was only 12 more than the number of 356 that died in 1944.
The DPS also said the 2011 deaths is a 44 percent decrease from 10 years ago, when the state had 657 traffic deaths in 2002.
Of the 2011 deaths, 120 were unbelted motorists and 111 people were victims of alcohol-related incidents.
