A Virginia, Minn., man was arrested Friday after a chase through Polk and Red Lake counties.

Michael Alderete Jr., 29, was taken into custody Friday for charges of fleeing a peace officer, DWI and domestic assault, according to a news release issued by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department. According to the release:

At about 6 p.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. Highway 2 near Fisher. A Polk County deputy located the vehicle turning north from Highway 2 onto 300th Ave. SW, and gave chase. The deputy said the female passenger inside Alderete’s vehicle was waving for help.

The vehicle then stopped and the female exited the car. Alderete then fled as the deputy tendered aid to the female until ambulances could arrive.

A short time later, a Red Lake deputy pursued the Alderete vehicle heading south, where it again encountered Polk deputies. The pursuit ended with no injuries just north of Fertile of Minnesota Highway 32.
