Minnesota DWI campaign yields 2,399 arrests

A December-long, statewide increased DWI enforcement campaign generated 2,399 DWI arrests and 2,178 seat belt violations, according to a news release today.

A December-long, statewide increased DWI enforcement campaign generated 2,399 DWI arrests and 2,178 seat belt violations, according to a news release today.

Preliminary arrest totals were reported by 315 of the almost 400 participating agencies. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety coordinated the extra patrols.

Enhanced DWI enforcement efforts will continue through the end of September 2011 in 13 targeted counties that had the highest combined total of alcohol-related deaths and serious injuries over the past three years: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Itasca, Olmsted, Ramsey, Rice, St. Louis, Scott, Stearns, Washington and Wright.
