MINNEAPOLIS -- A 16-year-old Minneapolis boy is charged with murder after authorities say he fatally shot a man last week following an altercation on a bus.
The victim wanted the suspect to stop harassing his teenage son, authorities say.
Joshua Davis Ford has been charged in Hennepin County District Court’s juvenile division with second-degree murder for the slaying Thursday of Andrew Billingsley Jr., 38, of Minneapolis. Prosecutors also filed a motion to have Ford certified to be tried as an adult.
Authorities say Ford and some friends boarded the bus in North Minneapolis and argued with Billingsley, who was already on the bus. Authorities say Billingsley confronted Ford about harassing his son.

According to a juvenile court petition, Ford drew a handgun and told Billingsley to get off the bus. As Billingsley left through the front door, Ford began shooting at him from the back door. Meanwhile, the bus driver activated a silent alarm to summon police.
Billingsley fell to the ground near a gas station and died there of multiple gunshot wounds.
Ford was arrested the next day. He remains in custody at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. His next court appearance is Aug. 8.
