MANDAN, N.D. -- A Mandan High School teacher accused of having sex with a student was suspended without pay Monday in a closed meeting of the school board.

Special education teacher Amanda Kolosky, 35, was arrested in May after admitting to police that she had inappropriate physical contact with a high school student, according to an affidavit. The student told police he formed a relationship with the teacher, which began with eating lunch together and texting, then led to kissing and sex.

The district placed Kolosky on administrative leave after she was charged with corruption of a minor, a felony.

The board also voted to contemplate discharge, which means an administrative law judge will oversee a hearing in which the board will decide whether to fire Kolosky, said Rachel Bruner-Kaufman, an attorney for Mandan Public Schools.

Board Vice President Sheldon Wolf announced the unanimous decision to suspend Kolosky after the executive session ended.
