A man who allegedly injured himself in an explosion on Thanksgiving Day pleaded not guilty to three explosive-related charges.
Martin Rezac, 60, of Dallas, South Dakota, pleaded not guilty on Jan. 25 to possessing explosives with criminal intent, a class 3 felony; selling, transporting or possessing a destructive device, a class 4 felony; and possessing materials with the intent to make explosives, a class 5 felony.
Rezac was indicted on Dec. 18, stemming from a Nov. 26 incident in which an explosive device allegedly detonated in his home at 413 Des Moines Ave. in Dallas, a town in Gregory County in south-central South Dakota.
Rezac was transported to the hospital and "possibly lost several fingers," court documents state.
During an ensuing investigation, law enforcement allegedly found several explosives, chemicals and tools used to create an explosive device.

A South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation special agent interviewed Rezac's friend, Allen Kayl, after the incident. Kayl said Rezac made several comments about blowing up a Veterans Affairs hospital, according to court documents.
Rezac is scheduled to appear in court again via I-TV from Winner Jail later this month.
