A 64-year-old Cass Lake man died early this morning while walking along U.S. Highway 2 about 5 miles west of Bena, Minn.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Brainerd, John Dahmen, 64, of Cass Lake, was walking east in the west-bound traffic lane when he was struck by a westbound 1999 International truck driven by Shawn Siemers, 32, of Bemidji.

Dahmen was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the State Patrol.

Siemers, who was wearing his seat belt, was uninjured. The truck sustained moderate damage.
