BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Bloomington police say a man was fatally shot after an encounter with officers late Thursday night.

Hennepin County sheriff’s officials say Bloomington officers responded to a report of a suicidal man at a residence in the 9900 block of Briar Road about 11 p.m. Thursday.

The sheriff’s office said that shots were fired and the man was pronounced dead five blocks away in the 5800 block of West 99th Street.

No officers were injured. Authorities provided no other details about the incident.
