FARGO - Police are investigating a report that a man exposed himself to a 12-year-old girl Wednesday in the 3300 block of 17th Street South in Fargo.

The 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl were walking at about 4:30 p.m. when a silver-gray SUV or minivan pulled up next to them and a man inside asked where the nearest gas station was. When the older girl approached the vehicle to tell him, she saw that he had no pants on and was fondling himself, Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

The girls ran to a nearby house, he said.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with light brown hair, no facial hair, a medium build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.

The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead and the Herald are both Forum Communications Co. newspapers.
