A man shot himself in the alley behind his home Tuesday night in south Grand Forks.
According to a police department release, officers were called to the 900 block of South Ninth Street at 8:32 p.m. for a possible suicidal man with a gun.
The release said police made contact with the man in the alley of the 900 block of South 10th Street, where he died of a single self-inflicted gunshot.
His body was taken away by Altru ambulance, which had arrived on the scene.
Police said no one else was injured, and they are withholding the man's name pending family notification.
