Timothy Wimer Jr., 21, died early Saturday, after his vehicle went off the road and into a body of water on Nelson County Road 8, northwest of Michigan, N.D., according to Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke.

Wimer left the vehicle after the accident. The partially submerged vehicle was discovered by hunters Saturday morning. The young man's body was found less than a mile away a short time later, Janke said.

An autopsy is being conducted, according to Janke.
